At the annual Google conference Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced some important news:

  • Google Assistant

A new "conversational" assistant. Google Assistant seems to be a new name for Google Now. But the assistant now can speak more naturally.

  • Google Home

It's a new voice-activated smart speaker. It uses Google Assistant and provides a lot of impressive features designed to make life at home much easier. You will be able also to send music from your phone or tablet using Google Cast or control video content. You can ask Google Home to play videos and the clip will appear on a screen you've previously identified as the go-to display. Google Home will also connect with your smart home devices, such as lights, thermostats, and switches, like a real “brain” of your house. In the future, you'll also be able to use Google Home to book a taxi or order flowers, for example just talking to it.

  • Allo: it's a very smart messaging app with standard features such as stickers and emoji, but it has something new called Whisper Shout . It will allow you to change the size of your text using a slide bar. There is also another important feature: a built-in "smart reply", which will suggest responses to the last message received, saving your typing time and it can also work with photos. Another big feature is the ability to talk directly to Google. With the Google chat bot built into Allo, you'll now be able to interact with the Google services by using natural languages. Allo will be available this summer on iOS and Android devices.

  • Duo: The video companion to Allo, Duo, is designed to work even on slow connections. It will monitor your data connection to update and degrade video quality on the fly. The last important feature is Knock Knock. This feature will give you a video preview of the person calling before you've even picked up so you can see what's going on. Like Allo, Duo will be available this summer on iOS and Android.
